Bentley Continental R 1994 (M) TURBO

The 1994 Bentley Continental R is a landmark luxury grand tourer, highly regarded as the model that single-handedly re-established Bentley's sporting identity. It was the first production Bentley since 1965 to feature a body not shared with a Rolls-Royce model, and at the time of its launch, the most expensive production car in the world.

Engine: The heart of the Continental R is a venerable 6.75-litre Garrett turbocharged V8 engine. In 1994, the engine was significantly revised, with power increasing from an initial 325 bhp to an estimated 385 bhp

Transmission: Power was delivered via a new, smooth-shifting GM 4L80-E four-speed automatic gearbox.

Chassis and Handling: The car features a sophisticated self-levelling suspension with adaptive ride and ventilated front disc brakes, allowing it to handle with surprising composure for its size. A "Sport" button on the center console adjusted gearbox mapping and stiffened the suspension for a more aggressive driving experience.

Design: Designed by John Heffernan and Ken Greenley, the coupé body was visually distinct from its Rolls-Royce contemporaries. It featured roof-cut door frames for easier access and a subtle rear spoiler effect.

Interior: The hand-built interior, trimmed by Mulliner Park Ward, was an opulent blend of high-quality hides, extensive wood veneers, and luxurious features like electrically adjustable heated front seats with memory and dual-level climate control.
